MADE, Yorkshire Sculpture Park’s Annual Craft and Applied Arts Exhibition

Posted on November 11th, 2008

Continuing a tradition of exclusive and exquisite craft at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, YSP’s annual craft and applied arts exhibition, MADE, will open this Saturday 15 November 2008 and continue until Sunday 22 February 2009.

Inspired by architecture and interiors, this year’s cutting-edge craft show features work by established and up-and-coming artists who use a host of materials to create dramatic architectural and graphic designs. The exhibition includes Cornelia O’Donovan’s hip mix of illustration and embroidered textiles; Lubna Chowdhary’s colourful ceramic tile wall panels; David Mayne’s small scale foil sculptures and Paul Johnson’s theatrical pop-up books.

MADE also offers an exciting selection of work by 30 jewellers, showcasing pieces in all forms from textile to gold, recycled object to enamel, felt, metal and more.

YSP is hosting a programme of workshops to complement the MADE exhibition: join Lauren Van Helmond on 22 November to make quirky characters, Cornelia O’Donovan on 7 February to produce hand-sewn artwork; David Mayne on 25 April to create intricate foil sculptures, and Prudence Mak on 6 June to make eclectic fabric jewellery and objects.

MADE presents an irresistible opportunity to purchase a special item for yourself, your home or someone special. The Arts Council’s Own Art scheme is available on all products from MADE priced between £100-£2,000.

Yorkshire Sculpture Park, near Wakefield, is an independent art gallery, accredited museum and registered charity, number 1067908.
