On a recent trip to Beijing, the gallerist Hongbin Zhang, director of the Qingdao Modern Art Gallery and a new member of the Biennale’s Scientific International Committee, invited the organizers to meet the highest representatives in the art field.
They met two of the most famous Chinese artists, first Shu Yong who’s been invited as an honor guest and who will be exhibiting some of his paintings dedicated to Chinese Myths in the next Florence Biennale edition 2009.
They also met Huang Yan, most known for his traditional Chinese paintings done on models’ bodies.

The Chinese specialized press, and most precisely the Hong Art Magazine and Gallery Magazine, will dedicate a space in their next edition due in December 08, where the interviews done will be published.
A collaboration was also announced with with Li Daoliu, director of tom.com one of the most powerful internet information channels in China. Through tom.com, the Florence Biennale will be promoted to the millions of Chinese who visit this web tv daily.
These media partners will also dedicate a space both in their English and Chinese editions, during the Florence Biennale 2009.
Various partnerships are still being defined, among these one with Beijing International Art Expo and with Asia Art Funds and its Director Mr Sun Liangang.
The organizers believe that these links will be an important step for the participation in the exhibition of various Chinese artists as well as of leading artistic and cultural representatives from China.
The Life Achievement award will be given to Marina Abramovic, Shu Yong and Igor Mitoraj for their contribution to the International Contemporary Scene.
Furthermore, the Florence Biennale will dedicate an exhibition to Igor Mitoraj in a prestigious public space in Florence.
